“Protea House” is located in Malaca – Cabouco, Lagoa, on the island of S. Miguel, in the Azores, 9 km away from the centre of the city of Ponta Delgada – the biggest of both the island and the archipelago – 11 km away from the airport and 1,2 km away from the village of Lagoa, on the south coast of the island.Those who enjoy the sea can go either to the beautiful beach of Água d’Alto (10 km away) or to Milícias and Pópulo beaches (5 km away), all of them on the south coast.One of the two golf courses on the island – Batalha (18 holes) – is 15 km away to the north.“Protea House” is situated at the bottom of a hill ( about 200 m high), at the top of which you can enjoy the spectacular view over Lagoa do Fogo (Fire Lake) – a volcanic lake at the bottom of an extinct crater. From the house, which faces south, you can also enjoy a panoramic view over the village of Lagoa, the sea and the hill.The surrounding land is mainly agricultural, with several small orchards.The name “Protea House” comes from the fact it is surrounded by 6 acres of land where there is a a plantation of proteas – exotic flowers from South Africa. Flowering time goes from October to May.Close to the house there is another one, where the owners of the small farm live.
